Sales Manager – Aerospace Fasteners

Location: Compton, CA

Mission and Key Objectives

Job Mission:

To lead the sales team while supporting and expanding key customer accounts within the production division, with a focus on strengthening relationships and identifying new revenue opportunities within the aerospace and defense industries. The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth, applying supply chain management best practices, and executing full-cycle sourcing and quoting processes for military-spec and specialty fasteners and hardware. This role involves close collaboration with executive leadership and requires a confident, customer-facing professional who can take ownership and grow the sales team's performance in a demanding, high-growth environment.

The ultimate mission: To build and lead a high-performing sales team focused on expanding market share, enhancing customer value, and achieving significant revenue growth within the aerospace and defense sectors.

Key Objectives:

  1. Drive Revenue Growth and Account Expansion:

    • Manage and grow revenue within key customer accounts by identifying upsell opportunities, addressing service gaps, and deepening customer engagement.
    • Reactivate dormant accounts and pursue new business opportunities within assigned segments of the aerospace and defense industries.
    • Apply Supply Chain Management best practices with key Customers to increase profits for Customers and the Organization, as well as reduce time and cost to serve.
  2. Lead and Develop the Sales Team:

    • Serve as the leader of the sales team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to enhance individual and team performance.
    • Potentially manage or mentor a sales support team (preferred).
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance sales culture.
  3. Execute Full-Cycle Sourcing and Quoting:

    • Execute full-cycle sourcing and quoting responsibilities, including vendor outreach, price negotiation, and order management for aerospace fasteners and hardware.
    • Utilize internal systems (e.g., ERP such as ePDS) and external platforms (e.g., ILS, PartsBase) to support sourcing and procurement activities.
    • Demonstrate expertise in sourcing, vendor engagement, and quoting, having personally handled the full sourcing lifecycle.
  4. Enhance Customer Relationships and Ensure Satisfaction:

    • Strengthen relationships with key customers within the production division, including major OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
    • Serve as a confident, customer-facing professional capable of managing high-level customer relationships.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (executive leadership, operations) to ensure timely fulfillment and issue resolution.
  5. Maintain Reporting and Compliance:

    • Maintain detailed account records and prepare regular reporting on account activity and sales performance.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations within the aerospace and defense sectors.

Background Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in fastener or aerospace hardware sales within aerospace, defense, or aviation industries.
  • Proven experience managing key accounts with significant revenue responsibility within these sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sourcing, vendor engagement, and quoting—must have personally handled the full sourcing lifecycle for aerospace components.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills; capable of managing high-level customer relationships within the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to travel as needed and participate in regular customer reviews and onsite meetings.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with ePDS is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ILS and PartsBase or similar sourcing platforms relevant to the aerospace industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of MIL-SPEC, NAS, and aircraft fasteners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience managing or mentoring a sales support team.
  • Established relationships with MROs, OEMs, or aerospace distributors.
  • Experience working in both distributor and MRO environments within the aerospace sector.
