THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Business Development Director to lead efforts in supporting the U.S. Defense Department. This role is critical in identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with key stakeholders within the defense sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of defense contracting, government procurement processes, and a proven track record in business development and relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement business development strategies to expand the organization’s footprint within the U.S. Defense Department and related agencies.
  • Opportunity Identification: Research and analyze market trends, government priorities, and potential opportunities to position the organization for success in securing defense contracts.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, defense contractors, and industry partners, to promote collaboration and partnership opportunities.
  • Proposal Management: Lead the proposal development process, ensuring alignment with customer needs and compliance with government regulations and requirements.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor the competitive landscape and conduct SWOT analyses to inform business strategies and identify potential areas for growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, operations, and finance, to ensure proposed solutions align with technical capabilities and business goals.
  • Networking and Representation: Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote capabilities and enhance visibility within the defense community.
  • Reporting and Metrics: Track and report on business development activities, pipeline status, and contract wins, providing regular updates to senior management.

 

BACKGROUND PROFILE:

 

·       10+ years of experience in business development, focusing on the U.S. defense sector and government contracting.

·       Proven track record of successfully securing defense contracts and building relationships with government agencies.

·       Experience submitting successful DoD proposals of at least $25M.

·       Strong understanding of defense procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements (e.g., FAR, DFARS).

·       Existing relationships with key stakeholders in the U.S. Defense Department and related agencies, particularly in jet engines, drones, or missile systems.

·       Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

·       Eligibility to hold a Top-Secret Clearance.
