Due to the retirement of a long-term employee, a well-established manufacturer is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to focus on designing custom equipment based on customer specifications. Individuals will work with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and will report to the Engineering Lead who has been with the company for almost five years. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Lead the design and detailed engineering of sheet metal mechanical components for custom projects
- Utilize 3D modeling software for comprehensive design tasks, including the development of structures
- Oversee the timelines of design projects
- Support operations once designs are in production, answer technical questions, troubleshoot issues and other questions related to manufacturability
- Create bill of materials for projects
- Provide aftermarket support
- Finalize design documentation for release to the manufacturing floor
- Participate in internal meetings and maintain clear, consistent communication with production and sales teams
- Interface directly with customers throughout the design process to ensure specifications are met
- Participate in Gemba walks and other continuous improvement activities
- Complete additional engineering duties as assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS for the Mechanical Design Engineer:
1. Minimum of an Associate's degree; a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred
4. Proficiency in utilizing 3D modeling software
6. Microsoft Office
Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. Experience with SolidWorks
