The Team Lead & Business Development Manager — Private Client & Group is responsible for managing a team of personal lines account managers and leading the growth and service delivery of the Private Client and Group portfolios.
This role combines team leadership, client relationship management, sales and business development and insure broker relationship management. The successful candidate will develop new business opportunities, strengthen relationships with existing clients and referral partners, identify cross-selling opportunities, and provide leadership and guidance to a Personal Lines team.
3 Key Areas of Responsibility
Team Leadership
• Lead, mentor, coach, and support a Personal Lines team to achieve retention, service, and growth objectives.
• Communicate clear performance expectations, monitor results, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching as needed.
• Support team members with complex accounts, coverage issues, underwriting requirements, claims matters, and client escalations.
• Promote a collaborative, accountable, and client-focused team culture.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of team members.
- Group
• Develop and execute a strategic business development plan for PL Group opportunities
• Maintain relationships with managers and key stakeholders of group clients
• Gro=1›lead prospecting activities, client meetings, presentations, proposals, and new business negotiations.
• Identify opportunities to increase client retention, account rounding, and cross-selling across the broader insurance portfolio.
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide regular reporting on prospects, opportunities, and revenue growth.
• Participate in networking events, industry functions, client events, and other business development activities.
Private Client•
• Develop and manage relationships with high-net-worth clients and high level carriers.
• Point of contact for office submissions for quotes to high level carriers for our producers
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities though existing clients, referrals, professional networks, strategic partnerships, and community relationships.
• Provide sophisticated insurance solutions for high-value homes, automobiles, recreational vehicles, collections, jewelry, art, watercraft, excess liability, and other complex personal assets.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the unique service expectations and risk-management needs of high-net-worth clients.
Qualifications & Experience
• RIBO-licensed insurance professional.
• Minimum 5—7 years of experience in Personal Lines insurance, preferably including Private Client and Group.
• Previous leadership or team management experience.
• Demonstrated success in business development and relationship management.
• Strong knowledge of Personal Lines products, underwriting practices, and insurance markets.
• Experience with Power Broker considered an asset
• Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Review complex submissions and coverage requirements to ensure appropriate insurance solutions
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong computer and insurance management system skills.
• Hybrid role — 4 days in the office
• Due to the nature of the role — occasional evening commitments and approx. 1-2 weekends per year for various events/tradeshows etc.
