Job Summary:  

Reports to Director of Commercial Lines  Service

 

Broking and Insurance Placement Specialist will lead the marketing placement for new business and renewals of Commercial Lines Small business, Mid Market and Large commercial accounts. This role will be responsible for providing exemplary service to the Sales and Client Service Teams by building and fostering strong relationships with underwriters to deliver competitive and comprehensive understanding of program, coverages, and pricing to clients. 

This role supports Commercial Sales Producers to assist in strengthening their closing positions on new business and strategically strengthening their positions on renewals that are under attack or competitive pressure.   

 

Duties / Activities Performed:  

 

Manage the marketing process in close collaboration with the Client Executive teams on renewal business
 
  • Work on new business prospects with Producer teams
  • Arrange client and insurer presentations
  • Highlight any special notations of a company quote when discussing final proposal with Producer (claims made, minimum premium, quote is subject to writing all of the account, difference of wordings, etc.).
  • Negotiate the premium when required.
  • Review for accuracies and completeness insurers’ policies; and, develop policy wordings, to include issuance of manuscript documents
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive underwriting submissions
  • Maintain strong relationships with key insurers, including involvement in escalation process
  • Work with insurers to provide coverage solutions to better meet our clients’ changing operations and as new products are being offered
  • Report on status of all new and renewal accounts handled in the Marketing Department.
  • Assist in finding solutions in writing hard to place business and not just accept all declines if other viable solutions are available.
  • Assist in problems on existing files and act as a conduit for the producer/account manager to the underwriter to ensure any problems are resolved efficiently. Act as one voice for the company in getting any problems solved. 
  • Help train and guide new producers
  • Develop ideas to assist in the growth and advancement of Commercial Lines and Marketing.
  • Review the areas requiring improvement in the Commercial Department that could use new forms, new procedures, etc. to do business more effectively.
  • Schedule monthly sales meetings –coordinating with Sales Manager.
  • To coordinate and assist heads of any other departments on any projects as needed.
  • To keep abreast of market conditions in each line of insurance.
  • To seek new markets when current or available markets are restricted or cancelled on an as needed basis.
  • To negotiate and set-up new Programs as opportunities arise – always looking for areas that the Company can grow.

  

Our ideal candidate:

 

  • University degree or Professional insurance designation (CIP,CAIB,CRM) preferred (or relevant work experience)
  • Minimum of five years prior experience in broker or insurance company management environment, preferably as a commercial underwriter
  • Minimum RIBO license
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team Player with excellent negotiation and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented and demonstrated excellence in time management
  • Flexible and a self-starter, able to multi-task
  • Strong understanding of Customer and Insurance market dynamics and requirements
  • Personal qualities of integrity, empathy, strong work ethic, credibility and a commitment to the Vision and Values our brokerage
  • Must be flexible to travel between branch offices and Company offices as require
