Financial Controller

Employment Type: Full-time Permanent (Hybrid, 3 days in office weekly)

Status: Position available immediately

Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 base salary, commensurate with experience

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Financial Controller to join their leadership team during an exciting period of transition and growth. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the current Chief Financial Officer during a transition period, gaining valuable exposure and preparing for future leadership opportunities.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Financial Controller will oversee the Finance function and play a key role in managing critical areas of the business, including accounting, budgeting, investments, enterprise risk management, and human resources administration.

This individual will be an integral member of the management team, supporting current operations, contributing to strategic planning, and providing regular reporting to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.

Additional responsibilities will include supporting regulatory reporting, year-end audit processes, maintaining internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and contributing to ongoing business initiatives.

This role offers significant career growth potential, with the opportunity to progress into a Chief Financial Officer position in the future.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in an accounting or finance role
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designation required
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills
  • Experience with IFRS is considered an asset
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong technology literacy and ability to adapt to new systems
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Professional, approachable, and collaborative working style
  • Insurance industry experience preferred but not required
  • Experience within financial services considered an asset
