About the Team

The team builds the foundational system software, embedded Linux platform, networking, and connectivity infrastructure that power autonomous vehicles and delivery robots. The platform connects high-bandwidth sensors and compute nodes while providing reliable, low-latency communication and cloud connectivity.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Systems & Networking Engineer to own and scale the communication infrastructure of autonomous vehicles. This role focuses on Linux networking, Automotive Ethernet, TSN, PTP/gPTP time synchronization, cellular connectivity, and low-level systems debugging across software and hardware.

You will work closely with platform and hardware engineers to optimize networking performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and build reliable system-level software for vehicle platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and optimize fault-tolerant internal vehicle networks connecting compute nodes, controllers, cameras, and LiDARs.

  • Design and support PTP / IEEE 802.1AS (gPTP) time synchronization.

  • Configure and troubleshoot managed automotive/industrial switches, VLANs, and Automotive Ethernet.

  • Develop network bonding and failover solutions across multiple LTE/5G carriers.

  • Tune Linux networking for high-throughput and low-latency performance, including NIC buffers, hardware offloads, interrupts, and NAPI.

  • Develop system software, telemetry agents, and daemons using Go and Python on x86_64 and ARM64 platforms.

  • Debug issues across user space, Linux kernels, drivers, and physical hardware interfaces.

  • Support hardware bring-up and integration of networking components into a custom Linux OS.

  • Build observability and monitoring for fleet-wide networking and connectivity health.

What You'll Need

  • Strong systems programming experience with deep knowledge of Linux systems and networking.

  • Advanced experience with IP routing, VLANs, firewalling, and network troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency in Go and Python.

  • Ability to read and understand C/C++ for lower-level driver and kernel debugging.

  • Strong debugging skills across software, Linux kernels, drivers, and physical hardware.

  • Experience with tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark.

  • Willingness to work closely with physical hardware and lab equipment.

  • Location: Austin, TX; on-site/hybrid due to hands-on hardware and lab work.

Nice to Have

  • Automotive Ethernet, 100/1000BASE-T1, or TSN experience.

  • Hands-on PTP, ptp4l, gPTP, or hardware timestamping experience.

  • Embedded Linux and ARM64 experience.

  • Experience with PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, JTAG, or serial consoles.

  • Real-time Linux, cgroups, CPU pinning, and scheduling.

  • Experience with Nix/NixOS.

  • Automotive, robotics, autonomous vehicle, or edge networking experience.

Work Authorization

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • No visa sponsorship or relocation provided.
