Vehicle Technician
Job Overview
We are hiring an engineering-focused Vehicle Technician to support the maintenance, repair, diagnostics, and readiness of an autonomous vehicle fleet in Austin.
This role is a strong fit for an experienced automotive technician with advanced diagnostic skills, strong knowledge of vehicle systems, and experience working with complex electrical, hybrid, EV, or autonomous vehicle technology. You’ll work closely with internal teams to keep vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for on-road operation.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform high-quality vehicle repairs and inspections according to documented work instructions
• Conduct multi-point inspections and system checks to identify safety and reliability concerns
• Perform quality control inspections and test completed repairs
• Diagnose vehicle issues and escalate complex problems to engineering teams when needed
• Configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off on vehicles for safe on-road use
• Document repairs, findings, and service results in a specialized service platform
• Maintain accurate service records and quality field reports
• Support parts, tools, and shop inventory organization
• Ensure technician tools and service facilities remain in proper working condition
• Follow established safety standards, PPE requirements, and applicable service center regulations
• Travel locally as needed to support vehicle configuration, diagnostics, and maintenance
Requirements
• 5+ years of professional technician experience
• Extensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair methods, tools, materials, and systems
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Clean driving record
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned work
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills
• High level of responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience diagnosing OEM vehicle systems
• Experience with high-voltage systems and hybrid or electric drivetrains
• Experience with CAN/LIN communication systems
• Knowledge of HVAC, cooling, chassis, and suspension systems
• Experience troubleshooting Linux-based systems
• Experience with embedded modules, autonomous driving systems, or sensor stacks
• Fleet maintenance and OEM preventive maintenance experience
• Automotive trade school certificate or Associate Degree in automotive repair
• ASE or manufacturer certifications
• Ability to travel locally and occasionally nationally
Schedule
• First Shift: Sunday–Thursday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
• Second Shift: Tuesday–Saturday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM
