Fleet Specialist
Job Overview
We are hiring Fleet Specialists to support autonomous trucking operations in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This is a hands-on technical operations role that works from the front right seat of the vehicle, helping prepare the autonomous system for missions, monitor system behavior in real time, troubleshoot technical issues, and turn what happens on the road into clear information engineering teams can use.
This role requires more than general fleet or logistics experience. The strongest candidates will have solid operations experience along with strong technical aptitude and comfort working with Linux, computer terminals, system logs, hardware/software troubleshooting, and similar technical tools. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you should be comfortable investigating technical issues before escalating them.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare autonomous vehicle systems for manual and autonomous missions, including software, map, firmware, and mission configuration checks
• Launch and manage missions using internal applications, Jira, and Linux terminal workflows
• Monitor vehicle and autonomy system health in real time and communicate system behavior to the Vehicle Operator
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and system faults and escalate unresolved issues to engineering or technical teams
• Annotate on-road events, disengagements, delays, and system behavior with detailed technical context
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip AV system inspections, including sensor and hardware checks
• Verify mission data, logs, and data drives are properly captured and offloaded
• Maintain accurate mission records, technical documentation, and shift handoffs
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in operations, fleet operations, technical support, vehicle testing, logistics, or a similar environment
• Strong technical aptitude with experience using Linux, command-line or terminal-based tools, scripting, Python, or similar technical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software errors, review system information, and work through technical problems methodically
• Strong written communication and technical documentation skills
• Ability to follow detailed procedures accurately under time pressure
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and judgment
• Ability to work effectively with Vehicle Operators, engineering, triage, and operations teams
• Comfortable working in and around Class 8 trucks and sitting in a vehicle for extended periods
• Flexibility to support changing schedules, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
• Autonomous vehicle, robotics, vehicle testing, or other technical operations experience
• Experience troubleshooting computer, network, sensor, or embedded systems
• Experience with Jira, fleet management software, telematics, or similar technical platforms
• Experience supporting engineering or software teams
• Experience working in a shift-based or 24/7 technical operations environment
Schedule
• Day and night shifts available
• Occasional weekend and holiday coverage may be required
• Some shifts may include extended workdays based on business needs
