About the Team

Our team owns the safety assurance argument for autonomous vehicles—the structured case demonstrating, with evidence, that our vehicles are safe to operate in their intended environment. We bring together engineering, safety, and operations work into a coherent safety case assessed against UL 4600 and aligned standards, supporting deployment decisions from operator-supervised driving through fully driverless operation.

About the Role

We are looking for a Safety Case Lead to own the structure, content, and maturity of the safety case. You will architect the top-level safety argument, decompose it into claims and supporting evidence, and drive those claims through assessment and approval.

This role combines systems thinking with disciplined execution, coordinating across engineering, safety, operations, cybersecurity, and third-party assessors.

What You'll Do

  • Own the top-level safety case and safety argument.

  • Develop claims, criteria, and supporting evidence.

  • Align the safety case with UL 4600, ISO 5083, ISO 26262, ISO 21448/SOTIF, and ISO 8800.

  • Coordinate evidence across engineering, safety, operations, and cybersecurity.

  • Prepare for and support third-party safety case assessments.

  • Own safety-case traceability using Jama, YouTrack, DOORS, or similar tools.

  • Track safety-case maturity, gaps, and phase-gate readiness.

What You'll Need

  • 8+ years in systems, functional safety, or safety assurance engineering.

  • Direct experience owning or significantly contributing to a safety case or assurance argument for a safety-critical system.

  • Knowledge of UL 4600 and/or ISO 26262, ISO 21448/SOTIF, ARP4754A, or DO-178C.

  • Familiarity with Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or structured safety arguments.

  • Strong systems thinking and technical writing skills.

  • Experience with requirements/ALM tools such as Jama, DOORS, or YouTrack.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

  • Autonomous vehicle, robotics, aerospace, or other safety-critical experience.

  • Experience with third-party assessors, certification bodies, or regulators.

  • Functional safety background.

  • HARA, STPA, FHA, or System Safety Assessment experience.

  • Familiarity with ISO 8800 / AI assurance.

  • Aerospace experience with DO-178C, ARP4754A, or MIL-STD-882.
