Autonomous Vehicle Safety Drivers
Job Overview
We are hiring Autonomous Vehicle Safety Drivers to support autonomous vehicle testing and data collection in Dallas. In this role, you will operate autonomous vehicles, monitor system performance, complete vehicle readiness checks, document driving events, and provide feedback that helps improve autonomous vehicle technology.
This is a strong fit for someone with excellent driving skills, strong situational awareness, and experience in autonomous vehicles, professional driving, motorsports, driving instruction, or another safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate autonomous vehicles safely and legally during testing and data collection
• Monitor vehicle and system performance during on-road operations
• Complete vehicle safety and readiness checks before deployment
• Collect information on vehicle behavior, road conditions, and environmental factors
• Submit detailed reports and feedback to support system improvements
• Communicate with engineers, operations teams, and riders
• Anticipate the actions of other drivers, pedestrians, and changing road conditions
• Respond quickly and safely to unexpected driving situations
• Remain alert and distraction-free while operating or monitoring vehicles
• Follow established safety procedures and testing protocols
Requirements
• Experience as an autonomous vehicle operator, driving instructor, motorsports racer, or in another safety-focused driving role
• Valid U.S. driver’s license held for at least 3 years
• Clean driving record with no DUI, drug, or alcohol-related driving offenses within the past 5 years
• Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and safe driving practices
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and respond quickly and safely
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable driving in different weather, traffic, and road conditions
• Strong sense of responsibility and ownership
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs
Preferred Qualifications
• Autonomous vehicle or electric vehicle experience
• Knowledge of vehicle technology and control systems
• Safe driving or defensive driving certification
• Additional training in defensive or advanced driving techniques
• Experience documenting incidents, vehicle performance, or testing results
Schedule
• Primarily Monday–Friday with potential weekend work
• Hours may fall between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM
• Schedule and daily hours may vary based on business needs
