We are seeking a Project Engineer to provide technical and engineering support in the development, design, and execution of capital and maintenance projects within a chemical or refining environment. This role will collaborate across multiple departments, manage project timelines, and ensure successful implementation from concept through completion.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering (Civil or Mechanical preferred)
- 2–3 years of experience in project management within a petrochemical, refining, or chemical processing environment
- Knowledge of project planning, cost estimation, and scheduling
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project design specifications from conceptual ideas with minimal direction
- Prepare and conduct project review presentations to align with stakeholders and refine project details
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure design, safety, and operational requirements are met
- Prepare preliminary and detailed cost estimates, justifications, and project documentation for management approvals
- Develop and manage project schedules to ensure on-time completion while optimizing available resources
- Monitor all phases of project execution, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and timelines
- Coordinate and oversee contractors, consultants, vendors, and design services as needed
- Specify and procure materials, equipment, and services, ensuring compliance with design codes and process requirements
- Document all phases of design, construction, and installation to maintain quality and regulatory compliance
- Lead or participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process, including Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
- Provide post-installation follow-up, including equipment documentation, preventive maintenance planning, spare parts acquisition, and lessons learned
- Support shutdown planning, engineering specifications, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Maintenance and Engineering departments
