Seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership and support for process control, automation, and safety systems within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving DCS, PLC, SIS/ESD, alarm management, historian, and communication systems while leading control system projects from design through commissioning. The ideal candidate will drive reliability, cybersecurity, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives across plant operations.
Responsibilities
---Provide technical expertise and daily support for DCS, PLC, SIS/ESD, and process control systems.
---Lead controls-related capital and operational improvement projects, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives are met.
---Support all project phases including design, engineering, configuration, testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
---Develop and maintain control system standards, procedures, documentation, and cybersecurity practices.
---Perform control loop tuning, process optimization, alarm management, and advanced process control implementation.
---Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions related to control system failures and incidents.
---Coordinate Management of Change (MOC) activities and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and best practices.
---Support instrumentation systems including control valves, field devices, calibration activities, and asset management systems.
---Maintain system reliability through lifecycle planning, preventive maintenance strategies, disaster recovery planning, and technology upgrades.
---Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and vendors to improve plant performance and reliability.
---Provide guidance on Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments, and process safety initiatives.
Qualifications
---Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
---5+ years of experience in Control Systems Engineering, Process Control Engineering, or DCS Engineering within petrochemical, chemical, refining, oil & gas, or other process manufacturing environments.
---Strong hands-on experience with DCS, PLC, SIS/ESD, process automation, and industrial control systems.
---Knowledge of alarm management, process optimization, control loop tuning, and industrial cybersecurity.
---Experience supporting capital projects, commissioning, startup, and plant modifications.
---Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
---Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
---Knowledge of industry standards, process safety systems, and best engineering practices.
