Environmental Manager*
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Manager to ensure compliance with all relevant environmental permits and regulations. This role involves managing and coordinating permit renewals, modifications, and new applications with state and federal regulatory agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), and Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ).
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for regulatory inspections, audits, and enforcement matters.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of required environmental reports such as emissions inventories, discharge monitoring reports (DMRs), Toxic Release Inventory (TRI/Form R), annual hazardous waste reports, and Benzene Waste Operations NESHAP (BWON) compliance documentation.
- Administer air emissions monitoring programs, including Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR), fenceline monitoring, and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) operations.
- Evaluate operational changes for their impact on permit thresholds and facilitate applicability determinations as necessary.
- Manage wastewater discharge monitoring and solid and hazardous waste programs, including waste characterization and vendor oversight.
- Lead internal environmental audits and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver environmental awareness and compliance training for site personnel.
- Drive continuous improvement in key environmental performance indicators, including emissions intensity, waste minimization, and water quality.
- Lead responses to environmental incidents, including regulatory notification and root cause analysis.
- Oversee ongoing soil and groundwater remediation programs and implement preventive measures following environmental events.
- Participate in budget preparation and capital project reviews for environmental compliance projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field from a four-year college or university.
- Thorough understanding of the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing Title V air permits and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and regulatory correspondence.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and evaluate technical and regulatory writings.
- Understanding of processes and operations to determine regulatory applicability.
