The Maintenance Engineer supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by improving equipment reliability, optimizing plant utilities, and reducing production downtime. This position provides technical support to production and maintenance teams, leads continuous improvement initiatives, and develops long-term solutions to recurring equipment problems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage plant utilities, including boilers, steam distribution, water, and compressed air.
  • Prepare monthly utility reports and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Develop and implement equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Support production efforts to improve productivity, quality, and equipment performance.
  • Provide technical guidance to production and maintenance personnel.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and lead root-cause investigations.
  • Develop long-term solutions for recurring equipment failures.
  • Review and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Communicate regularly with area coordinators regarding maintenance priorities.
  • Assist with identifying materials and parts needed for repairs.
  • Manage improvement projects, including scope development, cost estimates, capital requests, field supervision, and commissioning.
  • Oversee outside contractors as needed.
  • Support maintenance planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 3–5 years of engineering experience in chemical manufacturing or food processing.
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, including PM, PdM, CMMS, RCM, and TPM.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and plant safety practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment and conducting root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to estimate, plan, schedule, and complete maintenance work and capital projects.
  • Knowledge of capital project management, cost estimating, budgeting, and return-on-investment analysis.
  • Ability to coordinate, train, and motivate hourly employees and outside contractors.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder).
