The Process Engineer will develop, optimize, and support manufacturing processes within a lithium battery separator production environment. This role uses process data, engineering principles, and structured problem-solving to improve safety, quality, yield, throughput, cost, and process stability.
Responsibilities:
- Own and support manufacturing processes including mixing, coating, slitting, web handling, and material handling.
- Analyze process performance and optimize operating parameters to improve quality, yield, throughput, reliability, and cost.
- Troubleshoot production issues, lead root-cause investigations, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Establish and maintain process windows, setup standards, engineering procedures, and operating documentation.
- Support production startups, process validation, equipment qualification, and manufacturing readiness.
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on scrap reduction, cycle time, process capability, and equipment reliability.
- Apply SPC, DOE, PFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Recommend process, equipment, controls, and material-handling improvements.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, R&D, Maintenance, and EHS on new products, process development, and manufacturing scale-up.
- Plan and execute pilot and production trials, evaluate results, and translate findings into repeatable production standards.
- Analyze manufacturing data, process trends, defects, and equipment parameters to support operational decisions.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering.
- 3–7 years of process engineering experience in lithium battery manufacturing, roll-to-roll processing, web handling, coating/converting, extrusion, plastics, chemical processing, or advanced manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing troubleshooting, process optimization, production trials, and continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of SPC, DOE, PFMEA, process capability, Root Cause Analysis, and Lean/Six Sigma.
- Strong data analysis, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing data analysis or historian tools.
- Strong technical ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and operational excellence.
- Ability to travel between plants as needed.
