Join a dynamic and innovative team as a Senior Staff Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of advanced sensor technologies for aerospace applications. As an expert in mechanical design engineering, you will lead the creation and certification of cutting-edge electromechanical sensing devices, including pressure sensors, RTDs, thermocouples, and speed sensors.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of various sensors, providing mentorship and guidance to early-career engineers.
- Drive the innovation of new technologies within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Create comprehensive 3D models using SolidWorks, ensuring precise material selection and assembly methods.
- Develop and issue essential technical documentation, including design reports, FMEAs, test procedures, and test reports.
- Conduct thorough analyses, such as structural, thermal, fatigue, and dimensional analyses, using both hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods.
- Participate in specification reviews to support bid proposals and product design processes.
- Serve as a technical authority during design reviews, ensuring high-quality and rigorous solutions.
- Champion the continuous improvement of the Design Engineering Body of Knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Over 15 years of experience in designing electromechanical sensing devices in a regulated industry, ideally aerospace.
- Expertise in designing MEMs pressure sensors, with knowledge of high-temperature designs being advantageous.
- Proficiency in ASME 14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma methodologies and tools.
- Strong understanding of aerospace components and standards, including DO-178 software.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with experience using analytical tools, including FEA.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks version 2020 or later.
- Ability to design for severe vibration and thermal environments.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks under pressure while meeting deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, and SolidWorks, with familiarity in PLM/PDM software such as ARAS Innovator.
- Must be a US Citizen.
