Location: Illinois (Greater Chicago Area)

Compensation: $130,000 – $170,000 per year
An established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Structural / Bridge Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be a technically strong professional with leadership capabilities and a focus on delivering high-quality engineering solutions for bridge and structural projects across Illinois.
Key Responsibilities

Lead structural design activities for multiple transportation and bridge projects simultaneously.

Oversee project scopes, schedules, and budgets while ensuring successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

Perform structural design for bridges, culverts, and retaining wall systems.

Develop designs using cast-in-place concrete, precast concrete, and structural steel systems.

Review shop drawings and coordinate design updates or field modifications when required.

Ensure quality control procedures are followed and review work completed by other team members.

Collaborate with internal engineering teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.

Support efforts to maintain strong client relationships and assist in developing new business opportunities.
Qualifications
-
Licensed Structural Engineer (S.E.) in Illinois required.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

8+ years of experience in bridge or structural engineering design.

Experience with bridge substructure and superstructure design, foundation systems, and structural load rating.

Familiarity with steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and post-tensioned bridge systems.

Experience with structural strengthening methods such as fiber-reinforced polymer systems is preferred.

Experience working with Illinois DOT standards and procedures.

Prior experience supervising engineering staff or leading technical teams.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with MicroStation.

Knowledge of structural analysis and design software tools.

Strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail and quality.
