We are seeking a Product Safety Engineer to join a high-performing Lighting Engineering team focused on industrial products designed for hazardous environments. This role plays a critical part in ensuring products meet global safety and compliance standards while supporting innovation and market expansion.

The position is ideal for someone with experience in hazardous location certifications and a strong understanding of international compliance standards. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to certify new and existing products used in demanding industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead certification activities for products requiring NEC, CSA, ATEX, IECEx, UL, and other global approvals.
  • Coordinate third-party testing and evaluations to ensure product safety and compliance.
  • Review and prepare technical documentation including test data sheets, construction reviews, and compliance reports.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve certification and compliance challenges.
  • Monitor evolving industry standards and provide guidance on regulatory impacts.
  • Support audits, inspections, and development of internal certification procedures.
  • Utilize compliance platforms such as UL Product IQ and IECEx Online to manage certification workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in hazardous location certification or related compliance engineering.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and regulatory standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ATEX, IECEx, UL, and CSA standards.
  • Experience testing and evaluating equipment used in hazardous environments.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Professional certification related to hazardous location standards is a plus.
  • Experience with compliance management tools and safety software platforms.
