Civil Engineer – Project Manager

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer – Project Manager to join a well-established multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm serving public- and private-sector clients throughout Maine.

This opportunity is ideal for a civil engineer with strong site development and land development experience who is ready to take ownership of projects, work directly with clients, coordinate permitting activities, and oversee projects from initial concept through construction support.

The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use development projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage site/civil engineering and land development projects from concept through completion.
• Develop and review site layouts, grading plans, utility plans, and erosion and sediment control plans.
• Design and coordinate stormwater management systems.
• Manage project schedules, scopes, budgets, and deliverables.
• Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, planners, landscape professionals, contractors, and other project team members.
• Prepare permit applications, engineering reports, and supporting documentation.
• Work with municipal and state regulatory agencies.
• Attend project sites, municipal meetings, planning meetings, and public hearings as required.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in client development and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering strongly preferred.
• Approximately 4–8+ years of professional civil engineering experience.
• Strong background in site/civil engineering and private land development.
• Experience with commercial and/or residential development projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, particularly in Maine.
• Knowledge of municipal and state permitting processes.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Experience with HydroCAD or similar stormwater design software is a plus.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and client-facing communication skills.
• Ability to visit project sites and attend meetings as needed.
