This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a specialty food contract manufacturer that supplies some of the largest food brands in America. The company is in the middle of a significant facility expansion and is scaling to round-the-clock operations — which means these openings exist because of growth, not turnover. The culture here is high-energy, people-first, and built around quality. The facility recently brought its safety audit score to 96/100, and that standard is taken seriously at every level of the organization.

This is a floor-first leadership role. You will be directly supervising production lines, leading safety talks, verifying food safety documentation, and coordinating with Maintenance to keep operations moving. Leaders who thrive here are the ones who are most effective when they are in the middle of the action — not managing from a distance.   • Directing all daily activities for specialized production lines — ensuring products are manufactured to customer specifications and timelines
  • Leading and verifying training of all front-line employees including Mixing and Packaging Leads to maintain a high-performing, cross-trained team
  • Serving as the primary shift authority for safety and quality — enforcing GMP compliance and conducting daily safety talks
  • Overseeing critical food safety documentation — verifying all production, quality, and CCP paperwork is accurate and complete before sign-off
  • Collaborating with Maintenance and Production Management to report downtime, coordinate repairs, and assign work during production cycles
  • Holding authority to stop production for any safety or quality concern — upholding the organization's zero-defects standard
  • 2+ years of professional leadership experience in food manufacturing or a high-speed industrial production environment
  • Working knowledge of food safety standards — HACCP, CCP, and GMP familiarity required
  • General understanding of mixing and packaging processes with a commitment to maintaining a sanitary production environment
  • Strong communication and documentation skills — accuracy in recording and reporting technical data is a daily requirement
  • Floor-first leadership style — physically active role requiring the ability to stand, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Stable work history with a clear pattern of growth and reliability
  • U.S. citizen or Green Card holder residing within 45 minutes of the Greater Madison area

Strong plus (not required):

  • SQF experience or prior exposure to high-level food safety audits
