Compensation Range: $110,000 – $176,000 (based on experience)
She Recruits is seeking an experienced hospital-based Facilities Management leader to oversee all engineering, telecommunications, security, and biomedical engineering operations for a major acute-care environment. This role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of hospital infrastructure, regulatory standards, safety initiatives, and strategic facilities planning.
Role Overview:
The Director of Facilities Management leads, coordinates, and directs all functions of the Engineering and Facilities division. This includes oversight of building operations, preventative maintenance programs, life safety systems, campus sustainability, emergency preparedness, and regulatory readiness. The Director ensures all systems and processes comply with internal policy as well as federal, state, and accrediting-body standards. This individual also serves as Safety Officer and Co-Chair of the Environment of Care (EOC) committee.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct building operations, security, biomedical engineering, and telecommunications functions
• Develop and maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance programs across all physical plant systems
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, state building codes, BOCA, OSHA, EPA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements
• Lead safety initiatives, including serving as facility Safety Officer and EOC committee co-chair
• Oversee staff performance, development, and supervisory functions across the department
• Lead strategic planning for sustainability, capital improvements, and campus infrastructure investments
• Maintain operational readiness for audits, inspections, and accreditation surveys
• Partner with executive leadership to support operational excellence and long-term facilities planning
Required Background:
• 10+ years of experience in hospital facilities/building operations
• Minimum 5 years of progressive management or supervisory leadership
• Strong knowledge of healthcare facility codes, compliance standards, and life safety regulations
• Experience overseeing engineering, security, biomedical engineering, and maintenance teams
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
• CHFM certification preferred
• ASHE membership preferred (required within first year of hire)
