Legal Assistant
Our client, a well-established and highly respected law firm in Baton Rouge, is seeking a skilled Legal Assistant to join its Labor & Employment practice through a direct-hire, permanent position. Key Responsibilities

Leverage firm technology and legal software to enhance attorney productivity and workflow efficiency.

Draft, format, edit, proofread, and finalize legal documents using Microsoft Office and related applications.

Apply working knowledge of legal procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance with filing and court deadlines.

Prepare and coordinate electronic filings, as well as state court filings when required.

Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including mail handling, scanning, and document distribution.

Maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems within designated document management platforms.

Coordinate and manage attorney calendars, including meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.

Maintain and update attorney contacts in Outlook.

Assist with file openings, closings, and conflict check processes.

Support attorneys with timekeeping, billing, and related administrative matters.

Process attorney reimbursements and coordinate client expenses through Accounts Payable.

Maintain professional client interactions, exercising discretion, judgment, and confidentiality.

Maintain regular, dependable attendance as an essential function of the role.
Qualifications & Skills

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, business school training, or related education preferred (relevant experience may substitute).

3+ years of litigation or legal secretarial experience in a law firm environment strongly preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PDF tools.

Working knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and document preparation standards.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Excellent typing, grammar, proofreading, transcription, and general clerical skills.

Ability to prepare legal correspondence, manage files, and coordinate administrative workflows.

Comfortable using standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and phones.
