Senior Restructuring & Bankruptcy Paralegal
Our client is a leading Am Law 100 firm is seeking an experienced Senior Bankruptcy & Restructuring Paralegal to support its nationally recognized Bankruptcy, Restructuring, and Insolvency Practice. This position will work closely with attorneys on complex Chapter 11 reorganizations, out-of-court restructurings, distressed acquisitions, cross-border insolvencies, and bankruptcy litigation matters involving debtors, creditors, lenders, committees, trustees, and other stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
Bankruptcy Case Management/ Court Filings & Document Preparation
- Support attorneys throughout all phases of complex bankruptcy and restructuring engagements, including Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 proceedings, receiverships, and related litigation.
- Manage large and complex case files, including pleadings, court filings, discovery materials, expert reports, financial records, and exhibits.
- Track and maintain critical deadlines, court appearances, reporting requirements, and case milestones across multiple jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with clients, financial advisors, investment bankers, claims agents, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Prepare and manage bankruptcy case databases, schedules, service lists, claims registers, and case administration materials.
- Draft, revise, proofread, and file bankruptcy-related documents, including: First-Day Motions/Fee Applications/Notices and Affidavits/Proofs of Claim/Reaffirmation Agreements/Disclosure Statements/Plans of Reorganization/Monthly Operating Reports/Rule 2004 Motions and Related Filings
- Prepare filings through CM/ECF and other state and federal electronic filing systems.
- Ensure compliance with federal bankruptcy rules, local bankruptcy rules, court procedures, and judge-specific requirements.
- Perform Bluebook citation review, cite-checking, Shepardizing, and preparation of tables of authorities and tables of contents.
Legal Research & Analysis/ Claims Administration & Financial Analysis
- Conduct legal and factual research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, Bloomberg Law, and other legal research platforms.
- Analyze bankruptcy statutes, procedural rules, case law, & regulatory developments.
- Prepare research memoranda, chronologies, and case summaries
- Review and analyze claims registers, schedules of assets and liabilities, and financial disclosure materials.
- Assist with claims reconciliation, voting procedures, solicitation packages, and plan confirmation processes.
- Coordinate with claims and noticing agents regarding creditor communications and court-approved noticing procedures.
- Support attorneys in reviewing financial information and restructuring-related documentation.
Discovery & eDiscovery/ Trial, Hearing & Deposition Support/ Practice Support
- Manage complex discovery projects involving substantial volumes of electronically stored information (ESI).
- Coordinate document collections, review workflows, privilege reviews, productions, and database management.
- Utilize Relativity and other litigation support platforms to organize and review cases
- Assist with witness preparation, factual investigations, and evidence collection.
- Prepare attorneys for contested hearings, adversary proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Develop hearing and trial notebooks, exhibit lists, witness binders, demonstratives, and courtroom materials.
- Coordinate logistics for depositions, hearings, and court appearances.
- Provide in-court and remote hearing support, including management of exhibits and courtroom technology.
- Maintain accurate and timely time-entry records in accordance with firm policies.
- Meet established billable-hour expectations for paralegals.
- Support pro bono bankruptcy matters and special projects as needed.
- Mentor junior paralegals and assist with training initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 7 years of bankruptcy, restructuring, or insolvency paralegal experience
- Extensive experience supporting Chapter 11 and complex restructuring matters.
- Advanced knowledge of federal bankruptcy procedures, CM/ECF, PACER, and court filing requirements.
- Experience managing large-scale document reviews and eDiscovery projects.
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Experience at an Am Law 200, national, or international law firm.
- Familiarity with claims administration platforms & bankruptcy case management S/W
Work Environment/Salary/Benefits
- Position is located in mid-town Manhattan Hybrid work arrangement available, subject to firm policy and business needs.
- The anticipated salary range is $80,000 to $130,000, plus discretionary bonus. There is a full range of benefits for you and your eligible dependents.
