Seeking experienced General Manager candidates for great opportunity with a growing commercial laundry and textile service company in the Middlesex, NJ area. Commercial laundry/linen service experience is required. Our client is an industrial laundry operation led by ownership that is not involved in day-to-day operations. This role offers significant autonomy for a proven operations leader who can drive profit, growth, and performance through strong leadership and disciplined execution.

The General Manager reports directly to ownership and holds full operational responsibility for business results, including profitability, growth, and execution against key performance goals. This leader oversees multiple departments and managers while driving performance across P&L management, labor, safety, plant and equipment efficiency, procurement and inventory, customer service, and operational metrics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own full P&L responsibility and learn/master all financial reports to manage and direct the facility
  • Make team and employee safety the highest priority across all departments and daily operations and oversee strict compliance with all safety standards and regulations.
  • Direct report oversight of: Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager, Customer Service Manager, Sales Manager and their teams
  • Establish major goals, policies, and procedures to improve operational functions and results
  • Develop accountability reports and mechanisms that drive growth and key initiatives
  • Ensure a continuous process of reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating employee performance
  • Hold manager and employee meetings to communicate company direction, policies, and recognition
  • Ensure the location executes established best practices and policies consistently
  • Monitor equipment performance and workflow to optimize quality, service, and productivity
  • Monitor office functions and staff, including accounts receivable
  • Oversee vendors and contractor services to support facility operations and maintenance needs
  • Conduct regular customer meetings to review service, quality, and contracts; may support renewal of select customer contracts
  • Engages with ownership in broad strategic planning, reporting, and current monthly results and other achievements and challenges as needed.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of GM (or equivalent/above) experience in the commercial laundry industry (yes, commercial laundry industry experience is required)
  • Strong leadership skills and analytical ability; proactive, decisive, and process-driven
  • Demonstrated ability to maximize safety, financial results, quality, productivity, and operational performance
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
