Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of underground wet utility construction projects. This role works closely with Senior Project Managers and field teams to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

This position is ideal for a Project Engineer or early-career PM ready to take on more responsibility in project coordination, cost control, and subcontractor management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in executing underground wet utility projects from preconstruction through closeout

  • Oversee and guide Project Engineers on daily project deliverables

  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain schedule and workflow

  • Assist with project buyout, subcontract execution, and material procurement

  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings for compliance

  • Track RFIs, submittals, change events, and project documentation

  • Assist in schedule updates, cost tracking, and budget forecasting

  • Help prepare change orders and assess potential cost impacts

  • Participate in value engineering efforts when applicable

  • Maintain professional relationships with owners, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors


Qualifications

  • 3–4 years of experience in construction, preferably underground wet utilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field

  • Working knowledge of water, sewer, and storm drain construction practices

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

  • Familiarity with California Public Works projects preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
