VP of Purchasing and Procurement - Commercial Laundry/Textile Experienced
Our client is a reputable, growing textile service and commercial laundry company operating more than a dozen facilities across several states. They are seeking a strategic, hands-on VP of Purchasing and Procurement to lead enterprise-wide sourcing, vendor strategy, and supply chain performance. This executive will partner closely with Operations and Finance leadership to ensure the right products, equipment, and services are available at the right time and cost to support production, growth, and customer service goals.
Job Summary:
The VP of Purchasing and Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the company’s procurement strategy across all categories of spend, including direct materials, indirect supplies, capital equipment, and professional services. This leader oversees supplier relationships, contract negotiations, risk mitigation, and cost optimization while building a high-performing procurement team. Success in this role means aligning purchasing with plant operations, improving supply reliability, reducing total cost, and supporting scalable growth across multiple facilities.
This position is based on-site in the area of West Chicago, IL.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a company-wide procurement strategy aligned with growth, operational efficiency, and financial goals
- Lead all sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of goods and services across multiple facilities and regions
- Partner closely with Operations to forecast demand, optimize inventory levels, and support production schedules
- Collaborate with Finance and executive leadership to ensure purchasing decisions are financially sound and strategically aligned
- Build and maintain strong, value-driven supplier and vendor relationships
- Negotiate complex contracts to secure favorable pricing, terms, and service levels
- Establish supplier performance metrics and conduct regular reviews for quality, delivery, and cost
- Oversee procurement of direct materials, indirect spend, capital equipment, and services
- Implement procurement policies, systems, and controls to ensure consistency, compliance, and audit readiness
- Drive digital transformation through procurement automation, analytics, and ERP tools
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing procurement team across multiple sites
- Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supply chain risks to inform sourcing strategies
- Develop contingency plans to reduce exposure to supply disruptions
- Lead cost reduction and value engineering initiatives to lower total cost of ownership
- Track and report savings, ROI, and performance metrics to senior leadership
- Travel approximately 10% as needed to support multi-site operations
Requirements:
- 10+ years of purchasing or procurement experience
- 5+ years experience managing teams
- Purchasing or procurement experience in the commercial laundry or textile services industry is highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong background in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and vendor management
- Experience leading procurement across multi-site or multi-state operations
- Strong analytical, financial, and presentation skills
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel; PowerBI or similar tools a plus
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
