We’re Looking for a Rainmaker. Someone Who Opens Doors, Builds Relationships, and Wins Business.
Our client, a well-established and highly respected organization in the steel processing and distribution industry, is searching for a high-energy, results-driven Business Development Manager who knows how to turn connections into customers and opportunities into revenue.
We're not looking for someone to simply maintain existing accounts. We're looking for someone who knows how to walk into a competitor's account and walk out with an opportunity.
This is a role for a true hunter—a sales professional who thrives on breaking into new accounts, building relationships with key decision-makers, and winning profitable business.
The ideal candidate knows the steel industry, understands what drives purchasing decisions, and has the connections, credibility, and competitive spirit to make things happen.
You'll have the backing of an established, respected organization with the capabilities and resources to deliver. Your mission? Open doors, win customers, and grow the business.
What You'll Do
-
Hunt for new business. Identify, target, and penetrate new accounts across the steel processing, distribution, and manufacturing markets.
-
Open doors and win accounts. Build relationships with purchasing managers, supply chain leaders, operations executives, and other key decision-makers.
-
Capture market share. Identify opportunities to win business from competitors by demonstrating superior service, capabilities, and value.
-
Drive profitable growth. Develop and execute strategies to increase sales volume, expand the customer base, and deliver sustainable revenue.
-
Leverage your industry network. Use established relationships and market knowledge to uncover opportunities and accelerate business development.
-
Grow existing business. Strengthen established customer relationships while maintaining a strong emphasis on new account acquisition.
-
Own the sales cycle. Lead the process from prospecting and initial introductions through presentations, pricing negotiations, and closing.
-
Understand customer needs. Develop insight into customer applications, purchasing patterns, inventory requirements, and business challenges.
-
Negotiate winning deals. Structure competitive pricing and commercial agreements that create customer value while protecting profitability.
-
Stay ahead of the market. Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, pricing dynamics, and emerging business opportunities.
-
Collaborate internally. Work closely with purchasing, operations, and leadership to deliver on customer commitments.
-
Deliver measurable results. Maintain an active sales pipeline, develop accurate forecasts, and take ownership of business development objectives.
What We're Looking For
Our client wants a commercially savvy, well-connected sales professional with a demonstrated ability to find opportunities, build relationships, and close new business.
-
Proven success in new business development, with a track record of opening accounts and generating profitable sales growth.
-
Experience in the steel industry, ideally within a steel service center, flat-rolled steel, metal processing, distribution, or related manufacturing environment.
-
An established network of industry relationships and the confidence to engage key purchasing and operational decision-makers.
-
Strong knowledge of flat-rolled steel products, applications, processing capabilities, pricing, and market dynamics.
-
Experience selling to OEMs, fabricators, manufacturers, and other industrial customers.
-
A genuine hunter mentality with the initiative, persistence, and competitive drive to pursue and win new business.
-
Excellent relationship-building, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
-
Strong business acumen and the ability to balance revenue growth with profitability.
-
A self-directed, entrepreneurial approach to managing sales opportunities and priorities.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
-
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
-
Willingness to travel to develop new business and maintain customer relationships.
