Position Summary

The Plant Engineer will lead facility and equipment engineering efforts within a manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on AutoCAD-based design, layout development, and documentation. This role supports capital projects, plant modifications, and infrastructure improvements while partnering closely with maintenance, production, and process engineering teams to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain AutoCAD drawings for plant layouts, utilities, equipment installations, and facility modifications
• Lead engineering projects related to building upgrades, new equipment installs, and modifications to existing systems
• Design and implement utility layouts including electrical power, plumbing, and plant services
• Manage project permitting, documentation, and regulatory compliance
• Coordinate contractors and vendors, including bid reviews, scope definition, and cost control
• Track capital project budgets, schedules, and reporting (CAPEX)
• Support Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Production leadership on facility-related problem solving
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to energy efficiency, sustainability, and utility optimization
• Analyze energy usage data and support reporting and improvement plans
• Maintain organized records for engineering projects, drawings, bids, schedules, and financials
• Identify opportunities to reduce subcontracting costs while maintaining quality and safety standards
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within approved budgets
• Follow all company policies related to safety, 5S, and operational excellence
• Perform additional engineering duties as required by plant needs

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (required) for layout design, equipment placement, and utility drawings
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, facilities, and industrial equipment

Skills & Competencies
• Ability to create, revise, and interpret technical drawings and plant layouts
• Experience managing multiple capital projects simultaneously
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
• Hands-on, team-oriented approach to problem solving
• Experience working with contractors and negotiating scope and pricing
• High standards for safety, organization, and cleanliness
• Familiarity with plastics manufacturing environments preferred
