Job Description

 The Electrical Engineer II is responsible for development, design, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of new and/or improved designs consisting of electrical low/medium voltage power equipment, engine driven rotating machinery, AC/DC drive and control systems, and other duties within production assembly and field installation environments. 

Key responsibilities

  ·         Independent worker with direction;

·         Reading, interpreting, creating, and revising electrical drawings, technical specifications, bill of materials, and computer-generated reports.

·         Conferring with vendors, staff, and management regarding product specifications and manufacturing capabilities to achieve desired design.

·         Reviewing of installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.

·         Conducting research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components, and systems.

·         Researching electrical/electronic components & systems for use in production, and/or replacing obsolete parts.

·         Understands, follows, and provides input concerning necessary regulatory requirements, project schedules and procedures.

  • Developing the electrical design of products using drafting tools or Computer-Assisted Design (CAD) and/or other software.
  • Creating technical instructions for field modifications or testing requests.
  • Collaborate with the production line assemblers and test line to assure issue free assemblies.
  • Works as a team member independently with direction on ad hoc projects.
  • Works independently with direction in researching, designing, installing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining electrical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements by applying knowledge of engineering principles under the direction of other engineers.
  • Apply electrical code requirements, manufacturability of product, and electrical design experience. 

Qualifications:

        Strong organization skills and verbal and written communication.

        Must meet project deadlines and maintain several concurrent tasks / projects working independently with direction from more senior department members.

        Works independently or in a team and self-motivated.

        Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

        Must have familiarization with and working knowledge of drafting tools or CAD and applicable software.

        Works independently with direction in reading and interpreting documents such as technical manuals, spec sheets, safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure manuals.

        Can work independently with direction in applying electrical equations to circuit analysis (ex. voltage drop calcs).

        Must be familiar and comfortable with reading, understanding, and drawing electrical schematics that meet department standards.

        Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with ease to a large cross-functional audience.

  • Expected to travel up to 10% to customer and/or supplier sites.
  • Must be able to complete and maintain certifications and/or safety trainings.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Must possess a positive and can-do attitude.
  • Works independently with direction in code / regulation subjects related to the NEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.
