Controls Engineer, design, development, and implement complex electrical controls systems for advanced machinery and integrated packaging lines. You will own both the hardware and software aspects of projects, ensuring seamless functionality, reliability, and ease of operation for our global customer base.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
- System Design & Implementation: Create new controls system designs, developing detailed schematics, panel layouts, and PLC programs for machines and complete integrated systems.
- Documentation & Standardization: Organize, maintain, and standardize a comprehensive library of all PLC programs, CAD files, schematics, and templates, ensuring clarity and ease of use for colleagues and customers.
- Innovation & Improvement: Lead projects focused on improving the speed, capacity, reliability, and functionality of existing machinery.
Project Management & Collaboration
- Project Ownership: Manage the electrical project schedule for work in progress and act as the primary engineering advocate for integrated packaging line functionality and project management.
- Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate closely with Test Technicians during factory testing and assist the Service Department with remote and on-site troubleshooting of customer field issues.
- Vendor Supervision: Provide technical supervision and guidance to subcontractor vendors related to project implementation.
- Cost Analysis: Evaluate cost alternatives and drive value engineering initiatives for current and future controls designs.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
- OR an Associate’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) combined with a minimum of 8 years of related experience in Electrical/Controls Engineering.
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and troubleshooting complex electrical schematics and engineering software programs.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley (AB) PLCs and Fanuc robotics/vision systems.
- Familiarity with kinematic analysis of mechanisms and coordinating motion control.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience using AutoCAD (required).
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
