Service Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Service Engineer to support complex material handling and automation systems at our customer in Carlisle, SC. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a hands-on engineer or field service professional with experience in conveyor systems, automotive manufacturing environments, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer-facing project execution. The successful candidate will install, troubleshoot, maintain, and support advanced automation and material handling equipment while serving as a technical resource for customers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain material handling and conveyor systems
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and controls-related equipment failures and implement corrective actions
- Perform preventive maintenance activities following site-specific procedures and maintenance manuals
- Interpret engineering drawings and support installation crews throughout project execution and customer acceptance
- Support commissioning, startup, debugging, and optimization of new and existing equipment
- Assist with engineering studies and develop practical technical solutions based on customer requirements
- Prepare customer quotes, bid documents, project estimates, and scope packages for small to medium-sized projects
- Monitor project schedules, field activities, and site progress to ensure successful implementation
- Interface with engineering, construction, and customer teams to resolve technical and operational issues
- Travel to customer sites throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico as needed
Systems & Equipment Experience
Experience with one or more of the following systems is strongly preferred:
- Power & Free Conveyors
- Skid Conveyors
- Friction Drive Systems (FDS)
- Fork Transfers
- Part Carriers
- Automotive Automation Equipment
- Industrial Conveyor Systems
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in industrial automation environments
- PLC programming and commissioning experience preferred
- Ability to manage subcontractors, project schedules, and budgets
- Experience identifying customer needs and supporting sales opportunities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, engineers, trades, and project teams
- Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced field environments and proactively solve problems
- Familiarity with structural design concepts and engineering calculations
- Machinery installation and startup experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
- Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D modeling software preferred
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical field preferred
- Equivalent technical training and field experience will also be considered
- 3+ years of experience in material handling, conveyor engineering, automation, or automotive manufacturing environments preferred
- 3+ years of experience in construction, industrial installation, or manufacturing environments preferred

- Ability to safely navigate industrial environments including ladders, scaffolding, conveyors, and elevated platforms
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 25–50 pounds
