We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Steel Detailer to join our growing engineering and detailing team in Novi, Michigan.  This position offers a hybrid work schedule; however, candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Novi, Michigan and be available to work in the office for meetings, collaboration, and project coordination.

This position is ideal for a highly skilled professional with extensive experience using Tekla Structures and Bluebeam Revu to produce and check accurate, constructible steel detailing packages for industrial, commercial, and miscellaneous steel projects.

You will play a key role in coordinating with fabricators, engineers, project managers, erectors, and general contractors to ensure high-quality drawings, efficient fabrication, and successful project execution. This individual should have a strong understanding of fabrication practices, erection sequencing, connection concepts, and real-world constructability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D structural steel models and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures
• Produce accurate shop drawings, erection drawings, anchor bolt plans, bills of material, and CNC data
• Detail structural steel, miscellaneous metals, stairs, railings, platforms, screen guarding, equipment supports, and industrial structures
• Review and interpret structural and architectural contract documents
• Check structural steel and miscellaneous steel shop drawings prepared by in-house detailers and engineers.
• Verify dimensions, connections, and member sizes against structural and architectural contract drawings.
• Ensure compliance with AISC, and project-specific standards.
• Review and coordinate with design documents, RFI responses, and client markups.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Detailers, Engineers, and Clients to resolve issues and improve drawing quality.
• Provide clear and consistent feedback to detailers and project teams.
• Track and document checking progress to ensure on-time project delivery.
• Mentor junior detailers and assist with training and quality control efforts

Qualifications

• 7+ years of structural steel detailing experience
• Advanced proficiency with Tekla Structures
• Strong working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu
• Experience detailing structural and miscellaneous steel projects in industrial, commercial, manufacturing, or process facility environments
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection practices
• Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of AISC standards and detailing best practices
• Experience generating RFIs and coordinating revisions
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
