CAD Programmer

Position Summary

The CAD Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, analyzing, and maintaining accurate technical designs and drawings for defense-related products. This position works closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Production teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and meet applicable industry, quality, safety, and government requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong CAD skills, excellent attention to detail, an understanding of engineering and manufacturing principles, and the ability to work effectively in a highly regulated and confidential environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain detailed technical drawings and specifications using CAD software.
• Develop accurate designs that support manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Review and analyze existing designs and make modifications based on engineering requirements, manufacturing capabilities, materials, and product improvements.
• Use CAD software to support design analysis, simulations, and evaluation of structural integrity, performance, and safety as applicable.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, production personnel, and other cross-functional teams to ensure design requirements are clearly communicated and incorporated into manufacturing processes.
• Identify and resolve design challenges and develop practical solutions.
• Support product improvements by incorporating feedback, new materials, manufacturing techniques, and technological advancements.
• Ensure drawings and designs meet applicable industry standards, quality requirements, safety requirements, and government regulations.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency of technical documentation and design information.
• Research and stay current with CAD software capabilities and related technologies.
• Support manufacturing and production teams by providing technical clarification and design information as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and follow all company security protocols related to sensitive defense products, designs, technologies, and information.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD programs.
• Strong understanding of technical drawing and design principles.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills applicable to engineering and technical design.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create detailed technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of engineering design principles and manufacturing practices.
• Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements; defense industry experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively with engineers, production personnel, project managers, and other team members.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow security requirements associated with defense-related products and information.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other 3D CAD software.
• Experience with mechanical design and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, machining, fabrication, or assembly processes.
• Experience working with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Familiarity with applicable industry or government standards and specifications.
