Position Overview
The Mechatronics Engineering Technician serves as the on-site technical expert responsible for deploying, commissioning, debugging, and supporting humanoid robotic systems. This role works closely with customers, Sales, Engineering, and Project Management teams to ensure successful robotic integrations and exceptional customer experiences.
The successful candidate will develop deep expertise in robotic system behavior, known failure modes, troubleshooting methodologies, and customer deployment best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Robotic System Deployment & Commissioning
- Deploy, integrate, commission, and validate humanoid robotic systems at customer facilities.
- Support system startup, testing, and production ramp-up activities.
- Verify proper operation of hardware, software, communications, and safety systems.
- Ensure compliance with all company and customer health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Technical Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and systems-level issues.
- Perform root cause analysis on robotic failures and system performance issues.
- Apply known fixes, workarounds, and mitigation strategies to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot robot controllers, motion systems, sensors, communications networks, and integrated automation equipment.
- Provide both on-site and remote technical support to customers.
Customer Training & Relationship Management
- Train customer engineers, technicians, and operators on:
- Robot operation
- Safety procedures
- Preventive maintenance
- Troubleshooting techniques
- Serve as the primary technical liaison during customer deployments.
- Communicate technical risks, limitations, and unresolved issues professionally and effectively.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Create and maintain:
- Deployment guides
- Application notes
- Troubleshooting procedures
- Service documentation
- Document known issues, root causes, corrective actions, and mitigation strategies.
- Provide structured field feedback to Engineering and Project Management teams to improve future deployments and product quality.
- Contribute to the development of best practices for robotic implementation and support.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, CAD, Information Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of:
- 2 years of related technical experience with an Associate degree, or
- 4 years of equivalent robotics, automation, controls, mechatronics, or field service experience.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of robotic systems, automation equipment, and mechatronic devices.
- Experience troubleshooting integrated hardware and software systems.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- Wiring diagrams
- Mechanical drawings
- Technical documentation
- Experience identifying and repairing electronic hardware and circuit-related issues.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and robotic safety standards.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools for equipment assembly and repair.
Software & Programming Experience
- Working knowledge of:
- Python
- C++
- ROS / ROS2
- Linux-based development environments
- Experience with:
- Robot Operating System (ROS)
- System-level debugging
- Motion planning
- Robot controllers
- Real-time robotic execution environments
