Senior Medical Billing Specialist

Our client is a well-established, multi-disciplinary pediatric practice in the North Potomac, MD seeking a Senior Medical Billing Specialist to join their revenue cycle team. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM 

What You'll Do

• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims for therapy services
• Monitor claim status, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and work directly with insurance carriers to resolve issues
• Process secondary claims and coordinate billing for patient out-of-pocket expenses
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre-authorizations, and ensure proper documentation prior to service delivery
• Communicate with patients to explain balances, resolve billing questions, and assist with payment arrangements
• Reconcile accounts receivable and maintain organized records of billing activity, payments, and correspondence
• Support and mentor other billing team members on complex or unusual billing situations
• Stay current on insurance regulations and HIPAA requirements, keeping the team informed of changes
• Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical and administrative staff to streamline billing processes

What You Bring

• 10+ years of hands-on medical billing experience, ideally in a therapy or outpatient healthcare setting
• Strong working knowledge of insurance verification, coding, pre-authorizations, claim submission, and appeals
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong communication and patient-facing skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
• Self-starter mentality with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Preferred: Associate degree or certification in medical billing and coding
