Compliance Manager

Applied Technical Services (ATSLab)

Maverick Search Partners has been exclusively engaged to lead this search

About the Company

Applied Technical Services, LLC (ATS) has been a cornerstone of the testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services industry since 1967. Headquartered in Marietta, GA, ATS supports clients across manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, medical, and defense — sectors where regulatory precision and operational integrity are non-negotiable. With nearly 2,100 team members operating across 95+ U.S. locations, ATS combines national scale with a clear mission: delivering assurance through precise technical and professional services, and creating a safer, more reliable world in the process.

The Opportunity

ATS is looking for a Compliance Manager to own and lead the company's U.S. regulatory compliance programs. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role that sits at the intersection of strategy and execution — you'll be shaping policy, advising leadership, partnering across functions, and ensuring ATS remains fully aligned with the complex regulatory frameworks that govern its work, including ITAR, EAR, DFARS, and FAR.

This isn't a check-the-box compliance role. ATS needs someone who can think strategically, communicate clearly at every level of the organization, and build a genuine culture of regulatory excellence — not just a culture of paperwork.

The position is onsite at either the corporate office in Marietta, GA or the Phoenix, AZ location.

What You'll Own

  • Assess current operations to identify applicable federal regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly

  • Serve as a trusted compliance advisor to Operations, Quality Assurance, IT, and other cross-functional teams

  • Guide the Cybersecurity team in ensuring networks, data systems, and security controls meet federal standards and certification requirements

  • Monitor and assess compliance risks, produce clear reporting for leadership, and implement corrective actions as needed

  • Develop and deliver compliance training across all levels of the organization — and track it to completion

  • Manage audits, government agency inquiries, and customer assessments related to compliance and security matters

  • Advise senior leadership and General Counsel on emerging regulations, industry best practices, and risk mitigation strategies

  • Support internal investigations and incident response efforts involving compliance or security issues

What You Bring

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is required. An advanced degree or professional certification such as a CCEP is strongly preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs within a technical or regulated environment

  • Minimum 3 years serving as an ITAR Empowered Official or Corporate Administrator — this is a firm requirement

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement compliance programs in complex, technical organizations

  • Strong working knowledge of ITAR, DFARS, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) requirements

  • Experience coordinating compliance activities across IT, cybersecurity, and quality assurance functions

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements for non-technical audiences

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and influence organizational behavior without direct authority

  • High integrity with the ability to handle sensitive information and documents with discretion

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer; occasional light lifting up to 10 lbs

  • Security clearance is not required at time of hire, but the selected candidate must be eligible to obtain clearance if needed

Work Conditions

Office-based in Marietta, GA or Phoenix, AZ.
