About Georgia CORE
The Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (Georgia CORE) is working to strengthen the fight against the state's second-leading killer: cancer. As a statewide nonprofit, Georgia CORE connects patients to groundbreaking cancer treatments, advances health equity, and supports critical oncology research across Georgia.
Strong financial stewardship and operational excellence are central to this mission—and this role will be central to both.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a finance and operations leader who wants their work to directly shape health equity, research access, and patient outcomes.
This is a pivotal role for a leader who thrives in mission-driven organizations where strategy, execution, and innovation all sit at the same table. You'll partner closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to strengthen Georgia CORE's financial foundation and operational infrastructure during a period of organizational growth.
What You'll Do
Financial Leadership
- Drive financial strategy, multi-year planning, and organizational forecasting
- Lead federal grants compliance, reporting, and stewardship across multiple funding sources
- Oversee all financial reporting to government agencies, donors, and the Board
- Coordinate annual audits and support the Finance & Audit Committee
- Build and optimize financial systems, controls, and scalable processes
Strategic Partnership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, shaping organizational priorities
- Translate complex financial data into clear insights that drive decision-making
- Support long-range strategic planning and scenario analysis
Operations & Administration
- Oversee HR administration, recruitment, benefits, and performance management (via TriNet)
- Manage vendor relationships, consultant agreements, and contract administration
- Lead IT infrastructure planning and ensure systems support organizational needs
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
Governance
- Serve as ex-officio Secretary/Treasurer to the Board of Directors
- Support Board meetings, committees, and governance processes
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in finance and business administration roles, ideally in nonprofit organizations or organizations with federal grant funding
- Proven expertise in federal grants administration and compliance—you understand the unique requirements and regulations governing government-funded work
- Nonprofit accounting knowledge—experience with fund accounting, restricted revenue, and nonprofit financial reporting
- Strategic and tactical fluency—comfortable presenting to a Board and rolling up your sleeves to solve operational challenges
- Clear communication skills—ability to translate complex financial concepts for non-finance audiences including clinicians, researchers, and community partners
- Systems thinking—track record of building processes, implementing controls, and creating operational efficiency
Education
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required
- MBA in health administration, business administration, or related field preferred
- CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification preferred
Preferred Experience
- Healthcare, life sciences research, or academic medical center background
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and nonprofit financial management systems
- Prior board support or governance experience
- Familiarity with clinical trials administration or research operations
Why This Role Matters
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Build systems from the ground up rather than simply maintaining existing processes
- Elevate financial visibility and decision-making capacity for executive leadership and the Board
- Shape organizational strategy as a key member of the senior leadership team
- Drive sustainable growth by establishing the financial and operational infrastructure needed to support Georgia CORE's expanding impact
- Make a direct difference in how Georgia patients access cancer research and innovative treatments
This role is ideal for a finance professional ready to step into broader strategic responsibility, who values autonomy and ownership, and who's looking for work that matters beyond the bottom line.
What Georgia CORE Offers
- Flexible hybrid work arrangement: One day per week in Atlanta office; remote work for remainder of week
- Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k)
