Staff Accountant – Client Accounting & Advisory

Location: Remote IN THE US (Full-Time) | Travel: Minimal (2–3x/year for team meetings)

Our client is a growing accounting and advisory firm that serves small to mid-sized businesses and nonprofit organizations. They operate as a true financial partner to their clients — providing everything from foundational accounting support to controller and CFO-level advisory. This is not your typical one-client staff accountant role. You'll be embedded in a collaborative, remote-first team where you'll work across multiple client engagements, gain exposure to diverse industries, and play a meaningful role in helping business owners make smarter financial decisions.

What You'll Do

Day-to-Day Accounting

• Manage AP/AR processing across a portfolio of client accounts
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts on a consistent basis
• Record payroll and journal entries accurately and on schedule
• Prepare monthly financial statements in coordination with senior team members

Reporting & Compliance

• Assist with cash flow forecasting and budget preparation
• Support sales tax filings, payroll reconciliations, and annual 1099 analysis
• Maintain audit-ready workpapers and client portals

Team & Process

• Proactively flag discrepancies, trends, or issues before they become problems
• Collaborate with teammates to maintain consistent processes and quality
• Contribute to ongoing workflow improvements

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience — public accounting or outsourced/client-service environments strongly preferred
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Desktop
• Solid Excel skills and a sharp eye for detail
• Proven ability to manage multiple clients or projects simultaneously
• Clear, professional communication — including the ability to explain financials to non-accountant stakeholders
• A track record of working effectively and accountably in a remote environment
