About the Role

Our Client is seeking an Estimator to develop accurate manufacturing cost estimates for new and existing projects. This position analyzes blueprints, materials, labor, production time, machining requirements, tooling, and manufacturing processes to determine project costs and profitability.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, can read technical drawings, and understands metal fabrication, machining, or tool shop operations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labor, production time, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
Work with engineering, manufacturing, sales, customers, suppliers, and contractors to gather information needed for accurate estimates.
Enter completed quotes into the company’s estimating system for review.
Attach all required quoting and project documentation within Epicor.
Obtain supplier pricing and help identify new vendors for incoming projects.
Evaluate project costs, profitability, and overall manufacturing feasibility.
Recommend process, material, or sourcing changes that could improve cost-effectiveness.
Partner with the Sales team to prepare customer estimates, quotes, and bids.
Update cost estimates when supplier pricing, labor rates, product designs, or production processes change.
Manage multiple estimating projects while meeting short deadlines.
Follow all company procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and operational requirements.
Stop production and contain nonconforming products when quality concerns are identified.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering or a related field preferred, but not required.
Purchasing, quoting, production planning, or engineering experience preferred.
Three or more years of manufacturing, machining, or tool shop experience preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP experience preferred.
Epicor experience is a plus.
Strong analytical, planning, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, customers, and suppliers.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
Ability to manage multiple projects independently with minimal supervision.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Primarily works in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
May occasionally be exposed to manufacturing noise, fumes, airborne particles, moving equipment, vibration, chemicals, and temperature changes.
Frequently required to sit, communicate, and use a computer.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, or balance.
Must be able to frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must have sufficient close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust visual focus.
