About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Panel Technician III to join their growing Panel Shop team. This position is responsible for independently building, wiring, and assembling industrial electrical control panels while interpreting electrical schematics and layout drawings. This individual will serve as a technical resource to junior panel builders and help ensure panels are built to the highest quality and UL standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently assemble, wire, and build industrial electrical control panels from electrical schematics and layout drawings.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics with minimal supervision.
  • Layout and mount electrical components, wireways, DIN rail, and back panels.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring of PLCs, I/O modules, VFDs, relays, power supplies, motor controls, safety circuits, instrumentation, and other electrical components.
  • Install completed control panels into enclosures while ensuring compliance with UL and company standards.
  • Label wiring and perform accurate wire terminations using proper connectors and tools.
  • Maintain red-line drawings and communicate design changes to engineering and supervision.
  • Route and bundle wiring neatly and professionally.
  • Troubleshoot panel wiring and identify electrical issues during assembly.
  • Assist with maintaining consumable inventory and shop organization.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior panel builders.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience building industrial electrical control panels.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, relays, transformers, power supplies, safety relays, contactors, overloads, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC high and low voltage systems, power distribution, relay logic, and emergency stop circuits.
  • Experience using multimeters for voltage, resistance, and current testing.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools including drills, knockout punches, band saws, grinders, DIN rail cutters, and wireway tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical control systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related technical field.
  • Military electrical training or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience building UL508A industrial control panels.
  • Experience in industrial automation, conveyor systems, or material handling equipment.
