PURPOSE
This job description is built with the intent of describing the core competencies and requirements of the position.
 

SUMMARY
Performs advanced welding operations using a variety of welding equipment and tools in compliance with safety standards. Interprets blueprints and technical drawings, evaluates material specifications and thicknesses to be able to set correct parameters to perform welds as required. Develop and fabricate custom fixtures, jigs, clamps, and/or other devices to position metal parts and maintain proper alignment during welding.

They will be committed to continuous improvement, be able to multi-task and possess a “can-do” positive attitude to support the welding department.
 

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Perform complex welding operations using MIG, TIG, spot welding, and other welding equipment as required. 
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, engineering drawings, and weld symbols to produce quality parts. 
• Set up and adjust welding equipment based on material type, thickness, and gauge to achieve proper weld penetration and appearance. 
• Position, align, and secure components using fixtures, jigs, clamps, and holding devices to maintain dimensional accuracy. 
• Weld a variety of metals and material thicknesses while maintaining required 
tolerances and quality standards. 
• Inspect completed welds for accuracy, strength, and conformance to specifications and quality requirements. 
• Make machine parameter adjustments including heat, voltage, wire feed, and travel speed for optimal welding performance. 
• Perform fit-up and assembly of fabricated components prior to welding. 
• Operate grinders, deburring tools, and other hand tools to prepare and finish welded parts. 
• Maintain a safe and organized work area while following OSHA, company safety, and PPE requirements. 
• Work from production schedules and prioritize tasks to meet production and delivery deadlines. 
• Identify and report material defects, equipment issues, or process concerns to supervision. 
• Assist in training and mentoring less experienced welders and production employees as needed. 
• Maintain accurate production and quality documentation. 
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding quality, productivity, and safety.
• And all other duties as required in this position.
 

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
• 3–5+ years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment. 
• Proficient in reading blueprints and weld symbols. 
• Ability to weld a variety of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and 
aluminum. 
• Strong understanding of welding procedures, heat settings, and distortion control. 
• Ability to use measuring equipment including tape measures, calipers, squares, and 
gauges. 
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. 
• Good tolerance of a warm working environment. 
 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED OR HELPFUL
• Experience working within a job-shop production metal fabrication environment.
• AWS certification preferred but not required depending on application
