Industrial Processing Equipment Manufacturer seeking an experienced, and qualified, Mechanical Designer/Drafter to join the team.

 

Primary Objective of the Position:

Develops mechanical drawings, using SolidWorks, for sales, project manager, customer approval, outside vendor and internal shop fabrication on assigned projects and ensures that accurate drawings are completed according to the customer’s specifications and timelines.

Major Areas of Accountability:

• Prepares preliminary sales drawings by receiving quotation and submitting drawings with quotation to customer to assist in closing the sale.

• Consults with Project Manager and salesperson to verify specifications for the order.

• Creates preliminary drawings based on quoted design and specifications, verifying price quotation against drawings.

• Requests drawings and models from vendors for specific components /devices included in the order/bill of material.

• Prepares documentation for equipment including parts list, drawings, detailed maintenance instructions for each component to ensure that the customer has complete and accurate maintenance documents and manuals for equipment.

• Research and develop new products and creatively think of new equipment designs that can be made to existing products as directed, to expand and improve the product line.

• Conducts weekly audit of orders in process, by communicating with fabricators to discuss design success or challenges.

• Enter all information into PDM in accordance with Scott Equipment guidelines.

• Conducts final inspections on finished products prior to shipment to ensure that quality and customer specifications are met.

• Documents and records all information about the design and design changes in the project folder.

• Performs other responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; with one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer assisted design systems in the design of various equipment.
  • Proficient in Solidworks and Microsoft Office Suite products.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

Pay will be based on experience.
