The Change Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the evaluation, approval, and implementation of changes within the organization to ensure business continuity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This role establishes and manages the change control process, ensuring that all modifications to systems, processes, and products are assessed for risk, properly documented, and effectively communicated across the business.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s change control policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Coordinate and chair Change Control Board (CCB) or similar governance forums to review, approve, and track change requests.
  • Ensure that all proposed changes are evaluated for impact on operations, quality, compliance, safety, and cost.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of change requests (ECRs, ECOs, etc.), approvals, risk assessments, implementation plans, and closure reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Quality, Engineering, IT, Regulatory, etc.) to ensure smooth implementation of changes.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on change control processes and best practices.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for change control effectiveness and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, NEC, UL).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits related to change control.
  • Develop regular reports for senior leadership highlighting trends, risks, and change success rates.

 

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Quality Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in change management, change control, or related governance roles (regulated industry experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of change control frameworks (e.g., ITIL for IT environments, GMP for life sciences/manufacturing).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive structured decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with electronic change control systems or workflow management like PLM systems
  • Experience in ERP systems (Epicor. Netsuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)
  • Training/Experience in Lean Operating Systems
