Quality Control Technician, Fabrication Specialist
Basic Function:
Responsible for ensuring that the quality of all fabricated work-in-progress parts and finished product meets the inspection standards for each project/part.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain inspection standards for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products.
2. Ensure that all equipment being used to inspect product has been properly maintained, calibrated, cleaned, and documented
3. Review final drawings, paying close attention to technical requirements and specifications prior to inspecting the product.
4. Conduct thorough visual inspections, both internally and externally, using precision measuring tools to determine whether a weldment or piece of equipment meets the applicable acceptance criteria, codes, standards, and specifications. This is done at the supplier’s location as well as in-house in some instances.

6. Compile and submit daily inspection reports and photographs. Clearly communicate inspection findings and drawing discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
7. Coordinate with Warehouse Supervisor to release inspected items.
8. Place all non-conforming parts on hold and coordinate with the Project Manager, Purchasing, and, when necessary, the Supplier to determine how to resolve the deviation.
9. Assist with product assembly as needed. When defects are identified during assembly, determine the root cause and recommend practical corrective actions.
10. Conduct supplier visits on an as needed basis to improve quality issues and evaluate vendors for qualifications as a Qualified Supplier. Assist with preparing control charts and reports to monitor supplier performance.
11. Maintain surface finish specifications and train internal personnel on their application.
12. Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend practical solutions.
13. Pursue ongoing professional development and stay current with emerging technologies relevant to this position.
