Maderra Engineering is currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Mechanical Engineer – Intermediate / Senior to join our home office Engineering team.

 

Located in St. John's, NL, Maderra Engineering Inc. provides Engineering, Design, Project Management, and Technical Services, as well as Recruitment and Staffing Services to the Energy, Utility, Mining, and Commercial sectors.

 

Responsibilities:

Working with the Mechanical Engineering and Design team, the primary duties of the Mechanical Engineer – Intermediate / Senior include:

  • Participate in all phases of projects including bid preparation, site investigations, studies, detailed engineering and design, tender support, contractor bid evaluations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration including construction and commissioning support.
  • Provide Engineering expertise on assigned projects including Stamping and Sealing of technical documentation.
  • Oversee mechanical design and drafting for assigned projects.
  • Manage assigned projects within budget and time constraints.
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to discipline team members where required.
  • Ensure all design, analysis and specifications are in accordance with applicable codes, procedures, governing statutory regulations and meet project objectives and industry best practice.
 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Mechanical consulting engineering and design experience.
  • Experience in working with a team of Engineers and Technologists.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of industrial and commercial mechanical systems including pumps, tanks and vessels, heaters and exchangers, boilers, hydraulics and pneumatics, HVAC and building controls, piping, plumbing, and others.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design Codes and Standards.
  • Design experience with industrial and processing plant mechanical systems.
  • Design experience with industrial and commercial building systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, proficiency in report writing, excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with Clients and the design team in the resolution of project related issues.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Eligible for registration as a Member in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador.
