Duties and Responsibilities
Working with the Electrical Engineering and Design team, the primary duties of the Electrical Technologist include:
- Design of Electrical systems including power distribution, cabling and raceway, lighting, electrical heat trace, grounding, fire alarm, security, data distribution, and others.
- Perform calculations for lighting, voltage drop, grounding, service/feeder size, and others.
- Prepare detailed CAD drawings for Engineer’s review.
- Assist in preparation of material take-offs, budget estimates, work packages, and specifications.
- Provide Shop Drawing review and provide technical support during the construction phase of projects.
- Visit construction and plant sites on an as required basis to carry out site surveys and to support construction and commissioning work.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma of Electrical Engineering Technology (3-Year program) or equal.
- 1-3 years of experience in an Engineering Design office.
- Expertise in the usage of AutoCAD for preparation of complex electrical drawings. Experience with 3-D AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Revit would be an asset.
- Efficient in the use of MS Office software suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with national and local electrical codes and standards.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks.
- Effective oral and written communications and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with the design team in the resolution of project related issues.
- Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment.
