Maderra Personnel is currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Automation Specialist – Modicon M580 & Allen-Bradley PLC Systems in Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with design and integration of process automation systems.
• Support project instrumentation and controls design activities.
• Strong knowledge of Schneider Electric Modicon M580 PLC systems.
• High-level working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC systems including ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
• Participate in P&ID, HAZOP, LOPA, and other design reviews.
• Preparation of high-quality instrumentation and controls documentation.
• Participate in the installation, commissioning, and start-up of new automation and instrumentation systems.
• Complete as-built drawings and support projects following start-up activities.
• Support process control optimization and troubleshooting activities.
• Understand and support industrial control system architecture and networking.
• Support HMI, SCADA, and communication system integration activities.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams.
• Support both remote and site-based project activities depending on project requirements.

Requirements:

• Strong skills with Schneider Electric Modicon M580 PLC systems.
• High-level familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC systems.
• Experience with EcoStruxure Control Expert (Unity Pro) and Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 environments.
• Drawing Reviews (Control Narratives, Shutdown Keys, Alarm Lists, Cause & Effect Diagrams, etc.).
• Participate in and/or facilitate HAT, FAT, and SAT activities.
• Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, and OPC.
• Previous experience in field start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Understanding of process instrumentation and control system integration.
• Ability to support both remote and rotational site-based assignments as required.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Preference may be given to candidates with previous industrial or oil and gas project experience.
