Schedule

Initial Schedule: 1-2 days per week until the current patient backlog is addressed
Ongoing Schedule: Approximately 2–3 times per month after the backlog is completed
Clinic Days: Flexible scheduling will be agreed upon between the clinic, the dentist, and the dental assistant
Hours: Approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with some flexibility

Position Overview

Complete Mobile Dentistry is seeking a skilled, dependable Dental Assistant to provide on-site mobile dental support services at the St. Clair County Jail in Illinois.

There is currently a backlog of approximately 150 inmates who need to be seen, and we are looking for someone to help support the dental team in getting treatment caught up. Once the backlog is completed, the position can move into a more regular schedule based on ongoing needs.

The Dental Assistant will work alongside the Dentist to support treatment-focused care. Services are delivered in a designated room within the facility using portable/mobile dental equipment.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Assist the Dentist during examinations and treatment procedures
• Prepare and break down mobile dental equipment and operatory setup
• Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards
• Take and process diagnostic X-rays using mobile X-ray equipment, if included in the unit setup
• Prepare materials for restorative procedures, fillings, and extractions
• Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation
• Manage instruments, supplies, and inventory for mobile clinics
• Ensure proper operatory flow and patient readiness
• Adhere to correctional facility protocols and security requirements

Note: Routine cleanings have not historically been provided. Care is primarily issue-based and treatment-focused.

Qualifications

• Dental assistant experience required
• Certified Dental Assistant preferred
• Current hands-on Basic Life Support certification required
• Radiology certification required if taking X-rays
• Must be able to pass a drug test
• Must be able to pass background screening
• Must be able to obtain and maintain correctional facility clearance
• Experience in public health, mobile dentistry, or correctional dentistry preferred
• Comfortable working in a structured, security-regulated environment
