About the Opportunity
A well-established construction company in California’s Central Valley is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join its accounting team. This position plays a key role in ensuring vendors and subcontractors are paid accurately and on time while supporting job cost tracking and financial compliance within the construction environment.
The individual currently in this role is being promoted internally, creating an excellent opportunity for a new team member to step into a well-supported position with a smooth transition.
Key Responsibilities
Process, review, and reconcile vendor invoices to ensure timely and accurate payment
Code invoices to the appropriate general ledger accounts, job cost codes, and cost centers
Manage invoice approval workflows and ensure documentation is complete
Prepare and process payments via ACH, check, or credit card
Review and process corporate credit card transactions with supporting receipts
Execute bimonthly payment runs and maintain payment documentation
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
Maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships to support issue resolution
Assist with subcontractor compliance including collection of W9 forms, insurance certificates, and lien waivers
Support year end 1099 preparation and reporting
Maintain organized records of invoices, payments, and related documentation
Assist with retention tracking and other compliance documentation related to subcontractor payments
Process and deposit customer payments received by mail
Provide general administrative support including filing, document management, and office coordination
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of accounting or accounts payable experience
High school diploma required. Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred
Construction industry experience strongly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and Word
Experience with ERP systems such as Viewpoint Vista is a plus
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
